Mapping of mammals in the Czech Republic

National Museum in cooperation with the taxonomic server www.biolib.cz left Internet project aimed at mapping the animals living in the Czech nature. For starters it is a mammal. Get you and yours. What is mapping?

Each species has on the Earth so to speak its place (the center) - some species live in the area only a few square kilometers, or on a small island, inhabited by other larger or smaller part of the continent and are such that with the help of a man gradually settle almost all world. On the campus has many factors - initially it was only natural factors such as the evolutionary history of species, the configuration of terrain (geographical barrier-type mountain range, large rivers), climate, etc., in the last thousand years in this process affects the person. The purpose and objective of mapping is based on individual data on the prevalence (the so-called faunistickych data) for sub-area of occurrence (subarealy) in each region (protected areas, mountain regions,countries, etc.) and then compile them using the total range, which is one of the basic characteristics of each species of living organisms. Mapping of the species (especially plants and animals) is in fact pending process - zoogeografove dealing with mapping, it seeks to obtain as much data in different time frames, so that they can monitor changes to sites in different time horizons (decades, centuries, millennia) .

Why is the map?

Detailed mapping of the occurrence of living organisms (including animals and plants) and changes in the short and long term horizons is one of the most important tasks of nature protection.Changes in the field of (complex) extension is one of the indicators of population trends (positive or negative) of each species or taxonomic groups and at the same time may indicate changes in the natural (living) environment. One way to get more much-needed data to the wider public involvement in the mapping, which is an ideal means of web network.
