Snake Panterophis alleghaniensis

Under the above scientific name is teraristum well known, particularly in the eighties popular snake breeders, previously regarded as the eastern subspecies of Elaphe obsoleta black snake quadrivittata.

Basic data

Current terminological and systematic change is a result of revision of the genus Elaphe. The new species P. alleghaniensis includes not only the population of E. o. quadrivittata, but also Florida E. o. rossalleni and systematically ambiguous forms Deckert from around Lake Okeechobee in southern Florida, Williams of the Northeastern coast of Florida and Parallel Barrier Islands off the coast of North Carolina (Jandzik 2006 Stazsko? Walls 1995). Alleghaniensis generic name is derived from the GI Alleghany Plateau, a plateau in the Appalachian Mountains. Breeding
