Therapy of bone fractures

Interested me the basic principles of treating fractures. Our eight-month Schnauzer a month ago with the injured and broke his tibia. The vet has treated injuries only through the bandage. I wanted to ask whether the procedure chosen is correct.
Therapy of bone fractures

This type of injury is always serious and need to seek professional help. In general, the fractures described as a force to the hard tissue, in this case bone. If this force exceeds a tolerable limit, there is of course to its rupture, and therefore gives rise to various types of fractures. Action of external forces is not most common cause of fractures. Fracture but can occur as a result of cancer or inflammation, then that is called pathological fractures, because fracture takes place at the local process. Not infrequently it is a total hormonal disease, which affected all the bones in the body of the animal (paper bone disease). But there are many other situations which may lead to fractures. For simplicity, I will describe only a fracture caused by injury.Everyone can surely imagine the risk associated with a passing car or falling from great heights, but not everyone realizes that the human is to embrace the animal in a dangerous height. Just the baby slips or pops itself and break both front legs in the world. Very often the cause of injury is also bad stepping owners.

Clinical symptoms are often very dramatic, and unlike other diseases can be identified at first glance. The patient keeps the affected leg raised, and it does not burden at all. The site of injury is a big pain, at first glance you can see the swelling of soft tissues (muscle and subcutaneous tissue) and the affected limb may also be deformed. Wounded animal can be in that situation very often under stress and often, that bites its owner.

To the veterinarian to decide on the method of treatment, the fracture accurately describe. Expertly performed by X-ray examination after sedation in the so-called classification of fractures, the basic division is taking on an open or closed fracture. In a closed fracture of the bone fragment neperforuje skin surface. For open fractures of the bone pierces the skin and is exposed to the external environment. Open fractures are divided into several types: The lightest grade is the only bone penetration through the skin, in this case there is only a small bacterial contamination. Sometimes seeing a significant loss of soft tissue around the fracture, which can be simultaneously damaged the blood vessels or nerves. Classification of fractures is even more complex, depending on the extent of damage must be fully distinguish between bone fracture, the bone loses its supportive function, or incomplete fracture (bruising, fractured, cleft). According to the fracture line simply distinguish transverse fracture, oblique, spiral, cluster and multiple.
